Word is that many Mac users have run into all sorts of playback issues after updating QuickTime to version 7.3. In particular, some QuickTime files created with earlier versions of the software will no longer play in the newly released QT7.3.
Thankfully, however, Imagine Products has released a QuickTime repair tool, which makes existing .MOVs usable with all QuickTime 7.0-7.3 versions. It achieves this by resting a binary null value for the Color Look Up Table (CLUT).
There is a free demo available (direct link copy n paste), http://www.imagineproducts.com/Files/Macintosh/QT_73_Demo_Repair.dmg
and the full version,
http://www.imagineproducts.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IP&Product_Code=1109&Category_Code=MAC
which allows for batch processing, is priced at $29. So, if you’re scrambling over suddenly corrupt or dead QuickTime files, this is worth checking out.
